Clinical Focus

Life Transitions

Moving through life changes can make us feel anxious and overwhelmed, unmoored from where we once were and uncertain of where we are going.

Relational Trauma

In adulthood, the strategies we adopted as children to get love and protect ourselves can be roadblocks to the deep connection we crave with ourselves and others.

Creative Blocks

Creative expression undergoes cycles of ebb and flow. However, prolonged periods of feeling creatively stranded or stifled may be a sign that the psyche is asking for help.

Ways of Working

Individual

Many of us haven’t had much experience with the kind of truly supportive relationships that make healing possible. A good therapeutic relationship allows us to be fully ourselves while recognizing our unique potential. Therapy is a microcosm of your relationships in other areas of your life in which we will examine rupture and identify patterns that occur within our shared space.

Relational*

There are many different types and constellations of important relationships whose complex dynamics may need tending to. Together we will look at the patterns that are contributing to your struggles in order to improve communication, increase mutual understanding, examine sexual issues, and address betrayals.

*Couples/Polycules, Friends, Biological/Chosen Families including Adult Children & Parents, Business Partners

Group

For those who seek deeper connection with themselves and others and need help in looking at relational patterns, a group can build insight into how you are perceived by others as well as how to communicate your feelings in a way that builds connection. (If you are unfamiliar with group therapy, this Youtube series does a great job at portraying the type of change and healing specific to groups.)

All other paintings are Open Access images, courtesy National Gallery of Art, Washington or Metropolitan Museum of Art. I chose to incorporate these images as a nod to my previous role as a creative professional and because the arts are an avenue to explore what it means to be a human being. Whether it’s portraiture as an exploration of identity or still life as a metaphor for loss and existential angst or landscapes that remind us of all that has yet explored, the arts allow us to try on different emotions, much like psychotherapy.
